2010 Alaska Math Consortium

Statewide Basic Institute

This institute will have two components:

A.)   One week Face-2–Face: August 2 – 6, 2010;  8:00am-5:00pm

University of Alaska Anchorage

B.)  Two Tuesday evenings/month virtual: August - April

Cost: $600

4 math credits available

Housing available through UAA

The Institute is for teachers Kindergarten through High School, and is led by 3 experienced and enthusiastic-about-math teachers, who will cover elementary, middle school and high school perspectives.

Every lesson will be linked to the Alaska Math Performance Standards, with strategies suggested for those students who aren’t meeting standards. Manipulatives, technology, assessments, skill practice and problem solving will all be integrated into the basic institute’s curriculum, with a variety of instructional techniques modeled and discussed.
